Razor MX350 Dirt Bike For Kids And How It Measures Up Against The MX500 And MX650?

The problem with toned-down motocross bikes for kids is that they have to contend with a lot of specifications and as a result, the lines that differentiate one bike from the other in terms of maximum age for ride safety get blurred. So, if your plan is to purchase a low power dirt bike for a teenager, such that it doesn’t like a flimsy toy, but at the same time doesn’t go overboard, then perhaps it will be best if you leave behind the Hondas, and KTMs and instead look at Razor dirt bikes meant for kids.
All Razor dirt bikes for kids are electrically powered and are scaled down versions of actual motocross bikes. In that respect, three models, namely MX350, MX500 and MX650 stand out from the rest.

Razor MX350 – The Safe Choice

For adults in general and parents in particular who want to present a child with a vehicle such as dirt bike, Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket is your safest bet. Sporting an electric motor that can power it to a maximum of 14mph, this is just right for kids aged 12 years and above as a start-up vehicle. Notable features include a great response, twist grip throttle control, similar that seen in real dirt bikes, hand operated braking for the rear tire, and 12-inch tires with knobby detailing.
A single charge of the motor offers the rider up to 40 minutes of drive time, equating to 14-miles of distance travelled on the vehicle. Due to the fact that MX350 is essentially a dirt bike for kids, it can withstand a minimum load of up to 140 pounds and Razor offers a warranty of 90-days on the vehicle. Thus, this is a great choice for beginners.

Razor MX500 – Optimal Configuration Of Power And Performance

Sometimes, when a kid has had some experience with low seating dirt bikes, the performance aspects of a MX350 just might not cut it for him or her. In that case, you can always go for the MX500. It has just the right kind of traction, controllability and acceleration to sooth the nerve of an experienced teenager.
Since its built better, it comes with some extra specifications. For instance, larger tires, to the tune of 16 inches knobbed variant give the bike more turning ability and greater operational efficiency as it comes with extra surface area for grip and torque maintenance.
Dual suspensions and authentic geometry aping that of actual dirt bike models give it a more realistic gravel domineering status. Given the fact that MX500 has more power in its motor, the bike can achieve speeds of 17mph.

Razor MX650 – The Deluxe Choice For Teenage Biking Enthusiasts

If you are really bent on impressing your kid who is interested in off road biking, then you should go for nothing but the best while ensuring that it is still a dirt bike for kids at the end of the day, since you do not want your boy getting hurt. In that case, Razor’s MX650 should be your vehicle of choice. With a maximum load bearing nature of 220 lbs, this is certainly made for the big boys. 16-inch front tires and 14-inch pneumatic, knotty rear tires grace the bike with their presence and as a result, the vehicle can easily touch 17mph on max throttle.

Bottom-Line

Electric dirt bikes for kids do not just have to look the part, but also need to perform like one. However, the aspect of safety and security cannot be overlooked. The three bikes namely MX350, MX500 and MX650 built to offer maximum riding pleasure. Therefore, base your choice not just on the features but also the overall experience of the teenager getting this versatile ride as a gift from you.

Go Green With Razor Products!

Anyone who drives a gasoline powered bike or an off road vehicle knows just how much gas these beasts guzzle up. The times have changed and the need of the day is to save fuel so that our future generations can have enough to enjoy the vices of life that we have taken for granted today.
While some of us simply do not like the feel or the speed limitations on electric vehicles others love to believe that electric vehicles lack the sound that makes gasoline vehicles so powerful. Regardless of the reason as to why we still choose to use gasoline vehicles, we can at least try to change this pattern in our descendants.

How Green Can An Electric Vehicle Be?

Through careful research conducted by independent research facilities the world over, it was shown that electric powered vehicles that run only on battery power save fossil fuel by up to 50% and reduce the release of green house gases by up to 80% because the only time that they are doing both is when they are getting charged. Unfortunately, charging is dependent on electricity that feeds our homes and this comes directly from power stations of which most are fossil powered. Therefore, the consumption of power per hour is the reason why these products are not entirely environment friendly. The only vehicle that is 100% environment friendly is the good old bicycle.
However, the amount of energy one can save by simply using an electric dirt bike is quite substantial to ingrain the idea of electricity over gasoline in the young minds of kids. As parents if we can all manage to do this then our future generation shall have sufficient fossil reserves to survive another century or so before alternative sources can be finally extracted efficiently.

Razor Bikes And Their Pro Green Stance

Razor’s electric dirt bike variants are made for kids and they are 100% free from any gas or fossil fuel dependency. In fact, the vehicles from Razor are made to run on battery power alone. Such a move by the company has been taken because it wishes to promote the green power associated with battery power.
In its endeavour to go green, the company has pelted out over 20 such electric products that all run on rechargeable battery power. They offer electric kids scooters, drifters, dune buggies, dirt bikes, Scotties and much more. All of these products are 100% environment friendly while being fast enough. Although the company targets its products towards 13 plus years in the electric segment, it makes its electric devices for kids much below this age.
The entire line up of its high power kids vehicles are composed of only electric driven motor vehicles that usually depend on 12 Volt Lead acid accumulators to operate. Take the case of its Pocket Rocket series. This speedster is designed to replicate the looks of a superbike and even boasts of a similar seating position. However, one look at its engine reveals that it is an electric vehicle.

In Conclusion

Razor dirt bikes for kids are a great example through which they can have fun while learning to be responsible for the environment. With two lead acid batteries powering it, it delivers a good 15 miles to the hour for an extended period of 30 minutes or 10 miles. Compare it with a tiny dirt bike powered by gasoline and you shall understand the harm that is caused to the environment.
It may not be in our nature to accept of changes in this matter but considering the damage to the environment that we are causing by not claiming responsibility, it may be time that we amend our ways of life. So, why not start with your kids by teaching them of the importance of saving the environment, our mother nature!

Razor MX650 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike Review

The Razor MX650 Dirt Rocket is not a mere kids dirt bike as it is touted out to be. It is more than a replacement bike for costlier gas powered dirt bikes. It is the latest in technology, the answer to all those who say that electric powered vehicles cannot match up to the power and performance of gas powered vehicles.

Age Limitation

The Razor MX650 dirt bike comes with a safety limitation of 15 years and above but this is only because the company has to adhere to national safety requirements. The dirt bike can in fact be used by kids from the age of 8 years and above. Furthermore, it can easily take the weight of a full grown adult and yet hit its high speed.

Performance

With a massive 650-watt electric motor drawing energy from two massive lead acid accumulators, the dirt bike can power down straight roads at speeds of 17 to 20 miles an hour. This is quite fast considering its target age group of 15 years. Not only is the bike fast but also a charming experience with dual front and back brakes, full suspensions and a variable clutch throttle response system that increases or decreases the speed with a tiny twist of the throttle. The bike even comes with large comfortable tires with a rugged off terrain finish to ensure that it performs as dirt bikes for kids should on dirt tracks.

Battery Power

Two large lead acid batteries provide ample charge to the massive 650-watt motor allowing a kid to drive it around for at least 45 minutes before it runs out of charge. The massive batteries take no more than 8 hours to charge and can be replaced later when they wear out. Because of the electric nature of the bike, it does not create any noise unlike its gas chugging counterparts.

Durability

Each part on this particular model of Razor is tested to the limit to ensure its long life. Unlike the previous two smaller variants of Razor, the MX650 comes with sturdier plastics and metal works. Moreover, a tougher suspension system ensures that the maximum weight that the bike can take is 220 pounds. Foot pegs made from highly durable metal ensure that the bike does not touch the surface even in major crashes ,which by the way are almost impossible considering the speed restrictions on the device.

Looks

Not only does the Razor MX650 outperform other electric dirt bikes for kids but also looks better than most. Being a scaled down version of the real thing, the Razor MX650 is a treat to the eye with racing decals and numbers emblazoned along its sides. When your kid rides down the neighbourhood on this tiny beast, he is sure to have heads turning at his wake.

Reviews On Razor MX650

For those in search of a bike that can suit smaller children, the Razor MX350 and Razor MX500 are ideal. The Razor MX650 is closer to the height and weight of an actual gas powered dirt bike and therefore not all kids below the age of 10 can use it. Even then there are reviewers who have said that small children have had no issues with this particular model.
“This is a great bike. My 11 year old son loves this bike and rides it almost everyday. The bike has a tremendous amount of power… (read more here: Razor MX650 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike Reviews)”
“My kids has rode this bike non stop since the day it arrived!!! I had to install the handle bars and front tire, i also checked over all nuts and bolts… (read more here: Razor MX650 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike Reviews)”
There are many reviews on the MX650 that give it a bad name on Amazon. However, speaking from personal experience, a few precautions can be taken to ensure that some of the issues suggested on Amazon never occur. For instance, the thing about batteries going dead occurs because the battery is a lead acid type accumulator. These batteries have to be continuously charged and if they are left uncharged for too long then the simply run out of life completely. The other issue is with the rear wheel assembly that seems to break off with many users. This may sound like a grievous problem but it mostly occurs because of faulty assembly. I did not face any such issues with mine after I made sure that the back assembly is fixed tightly into place while assembly. It has now been over weeks and I have yet to see the backside coming off as reported by a few Amazon users.

The rave reviews for the Razor MX650 give it a good thumbs up for performance and safety. In fact, some users have touted it as a great replacement bike for parents who are jittery of gifting a gas powered dirt bike to their children. With just 17 miles as top speed there is not much trouble that kids can get themselves into. When I personally drove my kid’s Razor MX650 after assembling it, I was amazed at just how rigid the construction was and how smoothly the motor pulled my weigh along. There should be no doubt in the minds of any buyer as to the safety and the sturdiness of this bike as it is one solid replacement for dirt bikes.

Razor MX500 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike Review

Not willing to spend big bucks on dirt bikes for your young one? If your kid has the flair for the outdoors but you lack the monetary motive to get him a mechanical marvel that can let him explore his adventurous side then the Razor MX500 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike is the perfect choice for you and your kid. In just under $400, you get a great substitute for a gasoline powered dirt bike that can give the same thrill and excitement of a fast paced gas engine. The Razor MX500 does not have any gears and works on a variable clutch mechanism to deliver flattering speeds of over 16 miles per hour.

Precision Engineering

The MX500 is designed just like the many dirt bikes that kids get to see on television today. It not only possess the same kind of throttle control but also a similar looking sturdy body design that inspires confidence and control in the rider. With curves that can match the best and the costliest of gas powered alternatives, the Razor MX500 is sure to be a hit with youngsters.

Speed With Safety

In this dirt bike one has the freedom to fly at speeds of 17 miles per hour that roughly translates to around 30Kms per hour, which by the way is not too fast for kids to hurt themselves. When I personally drove this thing around the first day I put it together, I found the 17 miles restriction to be quite pleasant. However, it would be advisable to send young ones out with proper protection seeing as the bike is rated 14 years and above. Along with speed, the bike offers safety and protection in terms of a rigid body and dual brakes, one for the front and another behind. With double brakes and the speed restriction of 17 miles a hour, kids have the luxury to try out their favourite stunts without actually crashing into dividers and barriers.

Go Green

You pay for something that should just replace a conventional dirt bike and in return you get a behemoth of a machine that is user-friendly and green to the core. One could argue that you get what you pay for but with the Razor MX500, it is just the opposite. Not only are you satisfying the urges of a growing adventurous child but also doing your bit for the environment as well. This bike works on electric batteries. In fact, the bike uses a 500 watt electric motor powered by two large lead acid batteries that take just 8 hours to charge fully.

Mechanism

As mentioned earlier, the bike uses a massive 500 Watt motor to power its wheels. This it does by channelling all the energy generated by the motor through a variable clutch system which coordinates with the variable twist throttle system to deliver exactly as much speed as the rider wishes for with 17 miles per hour being the limit. To ensure a comfortable ride no matter what the surface, the wheels are made of back 14 inch and front 16 inch pneumatic tires and the front and back are secured with dual suspension systems.

What Do Users Say?

This model from Razor is much older than its other two models, the Razor MX350 and Razor MX650. While the former is much smaller and slower than the MX500 being meant for younger children, the MX650 is designed for young adults above the age of 15 years. Even the MX500 has a minimum age restriction of 14 years but according to some users, this is only to keep Razor away from breaking any laws.
“This thing is durable, safe, and fun. I recommend it for ages 8-15 years old. However there are reviews for other razor products about… (read more here: Razor MX500 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike Reviews)”
“We purchased this electric dirt bike for our son’s 13th birthday and it has been a big hit! The bike weighs about 105 lbs. so the most difficult part was… (read more here: Razor MX500 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike Reviews)”

On an average, reading through the many reviews posted on Amazon and other websites, the Razor MX500 seems to be one of the many electric dirt bike for kids that has got a rave reception the moment it was released. In fact, till date, users love the usability and the fun associated with the Razor MX500. The one thing that users laud about the MX500 is that it is faster than the smaller MX350 and has retained the dual suspensions. It seems that the newer versions of the MX350 have done away with the dual suspensions. Hence, for those who wish to get a Razor with suspensions choose the MX500 which is only marginally costlier and faster than the MX350. It is still safe for kids around the age of 7 years as many reviewers have suggested.

The only issue that the bike has is with its variable clutch system that is prone to breaking down once in a while. This issue as suggested by one reviewer can be fixed by ordering a replacement from Razor free of cost or getting it permanently fixed by going to a chop shop.

My personal opinion is that the MX500 is a safe dirt bike to ride and easy to maintain. Disregarding its variable clutch issue, which is common with electric powered dirt bikes since most of the strain is placed on the clutch mechanism, the electric dirt bike offers more than it is worth. At just 100lbs, it is quite capable of carrying around full grown adults of 170lbs. This itself speaks of the durability and strength of the machine. In fact, it is still fun to get on the Razor MX500 myself and take a stroll in my front yard once in a while. If you’re planning to buy one for your kid and want to know where the best place to buy is, then you’ll find Amazon has the lowest price by far. I’m not sure how they are able to offer such low price but I assume it’s because they’re such a large online company these days.

Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike Review

A popular choice among kids between the age group of 5 to 12 years old, the Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike is an electric variant with a single speed transmission that offers a realistic riding experience to kids out on the rugged tracks while they travel at speeds of 14 miles per hour.

No Gasoline

This dirt bike work on a gasoline powered engine with more than one gear to ensure the maximum transfer of power from the motor to the single chain drive system. With the Razor MX350, gas power is exchanged with electric power that gives it the advantage of being virtually soundless. The use of two 12V (24V) lead acid batteries together to power the device means that there is at least half an hour worth of usage time without any sounds. The neighbourhood will never know that a dirt bike is running on their side walks.

High Power

The two lead batteries together with the single speed transmission deliver just 14 miles an hour maximum speed, which is ideal for young children with aspirations of hitting the dirt tracks one day. Speeds of 22 kms per hour are safe enough for young children to experience the air flowing through their hair and perform a few dare devilish stunts without giving the parents a headache concerning their safety. Weighing just 70 pounds, the Razor MX350 is one of the lightest dirt bikes for kids that I have seen which is easier to handle than most even though it has a high torque engine.

Comfortable Ride

True to its dirt bikes image, the Razor MX350 is built with large pneumatic 12 inch tires, a rear brake system and a dual suspension system. The 12 inch wheels give it sufficient traction while the dual suspension system eases the ride out over the bumpiest of terrains without releasing control thanks to the rear brakes and the single throttle twist grip control. The simple correlation between the twist control of the throttle and the motor output makes it easier to handle the dirt bike.

Exact Replica

Probably the most attractive feature of these dirt bikes is that they look just like the real dirt bikes used by pros to compete in extreme sports. The Razor MX350 outperforms any other type of battery powered dirt bikes for kids with its looks. A downsized version of actual dirt bikes, the MX350 has the looks to kill and the performance to make any kid go wild. With sufficient features and safety attributes, this dirt bike has got to be my personal favourite out of the many kids dirt bikes that I have reviewed in the past.

Battery Life

If there is one area where, the bike has some issues is the battery pack that comes along with the Razor MX350. It boasts a lower run period as opposed to larger replica electric bikes at just 30 minutes to a full charge. However, I think that this is an added advantage as young children just cannot wander off all that far before the gas runs out.

Reviews Of Razor MX350 In A Nut Shell

Of the many products that I have personally reviewed in the dirt bikes segment, the Razor MX350 stands out for being the most cheap razor dirt bikes with the best satisfaction quotient. Not only does it offer great speeds and a nice ride but also has a long run time sufficient for keeping young kids excited each day. If there was one personal note of dissatisfaction with the Razor MX350 it would be that the newer models now do not come with the dual suspension and instead come with a single fork front suspension which does reduce the comfort level on uneven surfaces but does nothing to make it less sturdier. If anything, the use of a rigid frame with a steel front suspension has increased the sturdiness of the bike.

The bike is so easy to assemble that it takes just 10 minutes before one is ready to charge the device for its maiden usage. This in contrast to other dirt bikes of a similar nature is the biggest advantage of the Razor MX350. For those who want a long lasting entertainment device, the Razor MX350 is a perfect choice as it is one of those kid’s playthings that will last a long time into the future. In fact, its 140 pound weight restriction is good enough to even accommodate older kids although, it is not advisable to do so.

Amazon reviewers for the Razor MX350 have given it a good 4.5 star rating which is mostly because of its light weight, long lasting low cost nature. I have to agree with this conclusion and have to go one step further in congratulating Razor for making dirt bikes for kids that are well built and loads of fun to have around.

Advice For Parents Looking For Dirt Bikes For Kids

Dirt bike racing is not just a pass time and recreational sport for adults, it can also be enjoyed to the fullest extent by kids. Children as young as 5 years old too can ride on their very own dirt bikes and take in the pleasure of pumping adrenaline through their tiny bodies as they cruise along flat tracks. Yes, there is a risk associated with dirt bikes for kids but it is just as grave as the risk associated with football or any other tamer sport. If the right safety rules are inculcated into the head of a youngster, he or she shall grow up to be a responsible rider. The following advice should come handy for parents considering getting a dirt bike for their youngsters.

First Generate Interest

You as a parent may be highly enthusiastic about riding on dirt and blazing through trails but if your kid lacks the same passion then searching dirt bikes for kids shall be futile. First generate the same level of excitement in the young one genuinely before you consider breaking them into this sport. Take them to a few race events, let them watch you ride out and above all try to avoid getting into nasty crashes in front of their precious eyes.

Let Your Kid Choose

At the end of the day, it is your kid who shall ride that bike. It does not make any sense purchasing one without his consensus. Let him sit on a few different bikes of the same category and a few from a higher class. Notice those bikes that offer him the right height for both his feet to be touching with the ground. Just the toes touching the ground are more than enough. It has been observed that the Razor MX350 is ideal for kids below the age of 8 thanks to its lower frame height and a lower wattage motor. The battery pack keeps a charge up to 45 minutes. For taller and older riders, the MX500 and MX650 from Razor are great bikes.

Provide The Complete Gear

Many a parents overlook this part of getting dirt bikes for kids simply because they do not think that a electric bike can be powerful enough to hurt their kids. Truth is that the larger MX650 can actually notch up over 20mph. When adults get scratches and bruises at 20mph, what stops a child from breaking a few bones? Always ensure that your kid has got the right protective gear. This includes dirt bike helmets for kids, knee and elbow guards, body suits, riding boots, goggles and gloves.

Once, you have got the bike, gear and your kid ready to learn dirt biking, it is time to let them start their learning experience. Just remember to let them learn at their own pace. Do not hurry them along or irk them to learn faster. Some are fast learners and others are clumsy with their body coordination. Be patient and soon your kid will be riding big time.
